Economia de dados e erosão dos fatos na política democrática
Abstract
The present reflection deals with the importance of facts for democracy and for the formation of political thought. For that, it considers the business model that sustains the internet and digital platforms nowadays, which opposes in a structural way democratic politics and factual reality. As a theoretical framework, the text is mostly anchored in the thought of Hannah Arendt, but also in some contributions from canonical authors such as Machiavelli and Weber on the relevance of facts to politics. Furthermore, the text analyzes the business model of surveillance capitalism, structured around the personal data economy, pointing out the risks that this model represents for democratic politics, especially during election campaigns. The research method is hypothetical-deductive. Finally, bibliographical research is adopted as procedures.
